🏃‍♂️ NBC Run Club – Week 7: The Magnificent Seven Return! 🍂👟

The half-term break has flown by, the clocks have gone back, and the weather has started heading in completely the wrong direction for most of us... 🌧️🥶

But none of that matters when it comes to Monday lunchtime Run Club! 💪

With the holidays behind us and muscles nicely rested, seven hearty souls stepped up to the mark, hopped on the minibus and headed down to Alexandra Park for another week of running, laughs and questionable decisions involving hills. 🚐😆

The Magnificent Seven set off towards the lake, where the paths were carpeted with autumn leaves. 🍁🍂 Although there was definitely a chill in the air, it didn't take long for everyone to warm up.

After all, the more you move, the warmer you get! 🏃‍♂️💨

Before long, we found ourselves face-to-face with an old friend...

😱 The Hill of Doom!

Despite the dramatic name, the team powered on. No complaints (well... not too many anyway! 😂), just plenty of determination as everyone dug deep and kept moving forward.

One of the best things about running at this time of year is the scenery. For all the autumn lovers out there, Alexandra Park is looking absolutely stunning right now. 🍂🌳

The trees are bursting with colour, the leaves crunch under your feet, and if you're struggling on a climb, taking in the view can be a great distraction from the fact that you're voluntarily making yourself out of breath! 😅

As they say:

"It's not suffering... it's character building!" 🤣

After conquering the route, everyone safely made their way back down the hill, and this week's photo opportunity was a special one. 📸

I'm sure you'll all agree that the beautiful red tree in the background made for a fantastic autumn backdrop. ❤️🍁

A huge well done to all seven runners for getting straight back into it after the break. Starting again after time off is never easy, but everyone showed great effort and a positive attitude throughout the session. 👏👏👏

Thinking About Joining? 🤔

If you're a parent or carer reading this and think your young person would enjoy Run Club, encourage them to have a chat with their Form Tutor, Mr Handrick or Mr Lawrence. 😊

If you're a student and have been thinking about giving it a go, you're more than welcome to join us!

Run Club is a fantastic way to start the week, get some fresh air, improve your fitness and spend time with a great group of people. Most importantly, it's always full of good vibes, plenty of encouragement and the occasional battle with the Hill of Doom! ⛰️😄

Bring on Week 8! 👟💪

💭 Quote of the Week

"I run like a tortoise in a race with a snail." 🐢🏃‍♂️🐌😂
