Mrs T's Blog (5.9.25)

Welcome back, everyone.

It was amazing to see all our students come bouncing back into the building on Thursday. A huge ‘welcome' goes out to our new year 7’s – who I was able to meet (and greet) as they started their New Bridge journey.

This morning, I was able to have a quick run round school to meet our new year 7’s. I was met with lots of smiley faces and some exciting news that the first day was really exciting and fun. One young man that I met in Mrs Holland’s class actually said “I’ve made a new friend" which was lovely to hear. I'm sure over the next term (and year) there will be friendships made, adventures had and new challenges.

Tuesday and Wednesday were taken up with our staff training days. These 2 days are filled with lots of information and for our staff. Tuesday started with an opening address from My Lyons, our Executive Head.

Mr Lyons spoke about the past year – about our successes, what we have achieved and of course, our outstanding OFSTED report. An outstanding school also knows what it needs to do, and Mr Lyons talked about what we want to achieve over the next academic year.

In the afternoon, we were joined by our very own CEO Miss John and the whole staff teams for all 4 sites discussed our Destination model and what the next steps are for all our students. Exciting stuff.

Back to the new year and I want to mention in this blog a massive thank you to the staff for such a brilliant start to the year. For making our students feel safe and welcomed.

Thank you.

To our new families joining us this week. Welcome to the New Bridge family.

The start of a new school is always a stressful time for students and adults. We hope this week has gone well. This blog today, is short and sweet. I am sure you will really enjoy sharing and reading about everything we get up to here at Roman Road and will really appreciate all the amazing things that happen here, in the up and coming weeks.

That’s it from me. I’m going home to rest and get ready for next week – our first full week back of the academic year 2025-2026.

Stay safe
