Mrs T's Blog (27.2.26)

Welcome back, everyone, to the start of Spring 2.

The start of our school week began with a training day – where all the schools – from the 4 New Bridge sites, came together at the Roman Road site.

The day began with our CEO, Clare John and our Chair of Trustees, Steve Williams delivering a presentation around our Trust values and talking about what that means to our students and our staff. Our Trust is nearly 2 decades old and whist many students come through our doors – our values and ethics remain the same. I was really lucky to spend the majority of the day with our Autism Base colleagues, and it was brilliant to see everyone taking part in activities to ‘shape' the future of the department.

A ‘shout out' here goes to our site teams, our admin, our catering team and to ICT team who ensure that the day goes smoothly without a hitch and work so tirelessly to make sure the school is ready.

Our students ‘bounced' back into school on Tuesday – ready for the new challenges of the Spring term and really excited to see their classmates and staff.

On Wednesday we were invited to the JDUP Conference in Manchester. This is an event organised by the company JD Sports to look at careers in the retail industry. It was a brilliant day and our two year 9 groups and our Pathways groups – DIGI and Comms Living group managed to experience some of the stands, including digital trading, marketing and sales (I think the number of trainers on this stand made it very popular...) Finally the students watched a presentation led by Angry Ginge and the Bov boys – which a lot of our students really enjoyed.

I have to share this with everyone. Our students were an absolute credit to New Bridge. They were able to take part in activities, listen to the guest speakers and were polite and courteous to everyone they encountered on the day – including our lovely bus driver Lisa. They were amazing and they made us incredibly proud. From start to finish.

So that’s it for me. This week has gone incredibly fast and I can’t wait to see what the next 4 weeks brings.

Spring is nearly here.

Have a great weekend.

Stay safe
