Mrs T's Blog (1.5.26)

Hello May...

This year is whizzing by at an incredibly fast pace.

The best part of my job is getting out and about and seeing teaching and learning at its best, and this week I’ve been able to do that and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience, being able to see the students in their own environment – learning and being challenged.

On Wednesday I watched a wonderful music lesson with year 9, who were working on a set piece of music – which the group were able to sign to. All the class were thoroughly engaged and able to tell me what they were learning and self assess themselves through the use of paddles – green to show that they understand, orange to state they were unsure, red to say they may need additional support or help.

It was just a joy to watch and thank you to staff and students who allowed me to take part in their learning.

The second lesson for me this week was with year 7. Our newest learners have settled beautifully into school and I reminded them that soon, very soon, they will no longer be our youngest learners as they move into year 8. 7MHF were fully engrossed in their English lesson, looking at connective words (with correct spelling) and placing them within a sentence. The students were able to show me their sentence construction , correct mistakes and mark their own work. And thanks to the class, I am able to share some of their work on this blog .

Again – it was just magical to watch and be part of.

Next week - I’m out and about again to see some lessons taking place, and I can't wait...

The first bank holiday has arrived and the school will be shut Monday and ready to re-open to students. We have 3 weeks to go and it’s busy, busy, busy.

Just a reminder to families to book into parents evening – which is Thursday 21 st May.

That’s it for me. Hope everyone has a great bank holiday.

Stay safe
