Learning Centre Blog (9.5.25)
This week, I’m focusing my blog on our VE day celebrations which ran throughout the week and culminated with our very own ‘big band’ dance.
The Learning Centre has been festooned with union jack flags, bunting and pictures, Thanks to Nurture group for ensuring every area of the Learning Centre was decorated, especially my door!
Students have been spending time this week developing a deeper understanding of the meaning of VE day, watching films & documentaries about the few remaining veterans. On Wednesday everyone was invited to the café for tea, coffee & cakes, and we had a special VE day lunch menu of fish & chips.
Thursday saw the whole of the Learning Centre dressed in Red white & blue. We joined schools and colleges from across the country in observing a minutes silence. I’m always impressed with how respectful all our students are on such occasions.
On Thursday afternoon we welcomed a 12 piece ‘swing band’ and singer who entertained us all and got the vast majority of staff and students up dancing the afternoon away.
Thanks to everyone for a fantastic time.
I can’t wait to share pictures with you next week.
A reminder that the LC parents evening is taking place on Tuesday 20th May. We look forward to welcome parents and carers in celebrating our students' achievements.
Have a great weekend
