Learning Centre Blog - 22.5.26
As we approach half term and prepare for our final half term of this academic year, I’ve been in reflective mood. I’ve been reflecting on just how far our students have progressed both this year, and for our year 14 students during their 3 years with us.
I remember when students first joined us as nervous year 12’s and now they are confident young adults ready for the next step.
An important part of this journey is the partnership we have with families, and I’d like to thank them for trusting us.
Families have been sharing testimonials with us; here are just a few:
My son has been at The Learning Centre since September 2024. He came from New Bridge School, and the transition was great and he settled in quickly. In the time he has spent in The Learning Centre he has made fantastic progress in his patience, confidence and life skills. He asks to go to college and experiences a great variety of activities and has fun whilst he also learns.
During his time at the Learning Centre, my son has thrived and been encouraged to develop into the young man he is now. I am appreciative to every staff member who has encouraged my son to become the absolute best version of himself.
The staff notice the small things that really matter when it comes to working together as a home/school partnership. I feel our working relationship has been a positive experience resulting in him being very happy at the Learning Centre!
Mrs. Thornhill’s dedication, creativity, and encouragement have been truly transformative. She has not only developed James’ skills but also nurtured his confidence, independence, and love of learning. We are immensely grateful for her outstanding teaching and lasting impact on his life.
And finally, from the mum of one of last year’s leavers...
My son, left the Learning Centre a much more independent and caring young man to attend a mainstream college, something he would never have been able to consider 3 years ago. I will be forever grateful to the staff at the Learning Centre who worked absolute wonders building his confidence and communication skills.
Thanks to the amazing staff team who continue to transform the lives of our young people!
As our year 11 students prepare to transition to the Learning Centre, please know you will be nurtured, encouraged and supported to be the best you can be! We look forward to being a part of your exciting journey!
I have to share a couple of pics from today where staff and students were treated to an ice cream courtesy of Ash & Connor from Value Education.

I also had the opportunity to make my own 99!
Have a great half term
