Activ8 Update
This week, Activ8 had the exciting opportunity to visit Tameside College, where our students took part in a variety of engaging and interactive activities.
During the visit, Tameside students led and delivered a number of well-planned sports sessions for our group. The morning began with a fun and energetic warm-up, where learners were encouraged to move into their own space while taking part in a range of enjoyable activities designed to get everyone active and ready for the session ahead.
Following this, students took part in a main activity which included games such as netball frisbee. These sessions helped to develop teamwork, communication, and coordination, while also allowing students to enjoy being active in a supportive environment.
After the sports activities, we had the chance to explore different departments within the college. One highlight was visiting the Animal Care section, where students were able to see a variety of animals and aquariums up close. This provided a great insight into animal care courses and sparked interest for those considering this as a future pathway.
We also visited the Floristry department, where staff explained the different aspects of the course. This area was particularly appealing to students who enjoy arts, crafts, and creativity, as it offers opportunities to develop practical and creative skills.
Following lunch, the day continued with a visit to the college gym, where a Tameside tutor supported our students in exploring the facilities. Students enjoyed using the cardiovascular equipment, playing table tennis, and even having a go at darts.
Overall, the visit to Tameside College was a fantastic experience for our students. It not only gave them the chance to take part in a range of physical activities but also provided valuable insight into the courses available to them in the future.
Later in the week, on Wednesday, a group of Activ8 students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Manchester City Football Stadium to take part in a friendly tournament against other colleges. This was a fantastic experience for our learners, giving them the chance to compete in a professional environment while representing Activ8.
All students showed great enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day, and it was clear that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As a special highlight, each student received a Manchester City top, which they proudly wore and modelled.
The trip was a great success, and students returned full of excitement, eager to share their experiences with their peers. It was a memorable day that helped to build confidence, encourage participation, and create lasting positive memories.

🎭✨ Lumenus Performance Update! ✨💃
It’s a busy and exciting half-term for our talented Lumenus students as they prepare for the Salford Dance Festival this July, alongside their upcoming lunchtime monologue and duologue performances!
Our dancers are creating a vibrant piece inspired by world music, taking audiences on a journey from Africa to Cuba to America, exploring styles such as call and response, rumba, salsa, and Latin pop 🌍🎶
Meanwhile, our drama students have been hard at work developing monologues and duologues from plays and books—building characters, learning lines, and performing with confidence 🎤📖 This also contributes to their BTEC Level 2 coursework.
We can’t wait to showcase their creativity and hard work—watch this space! 👏🔥
