School Council
Since its launch in 2021, New Bridge College have partnered with Smarts School Council to enhance student engagement. The New Bridge Parliament has embarked on a meaningful journey to amplify student voices and promote democratic participation among its members. This collaboration began with students engaging in weekly discussions and debates, with enthusiastic participation from all form groups. This initial effort laid the foundation for a more organised representation system, leading to the creation of the New Bridge Parliament in 2023.
The New Bridge Parliament marks a significant step forward in incorporating student perspectives into the college's decision-making processes. With a dedicated team of student representatives, including a president and a vice president, the parliament provides an essential platform for students to share their ideas, concerns, and aspirations. This initiative not only empowers students but also nurtures a culture that genuinely values their contributions. It also ensures that every student’s voice is heard, represented, and valued.
The New Bridge Parliament has celebrated several achievements, addressing key needs and initiatives such as the installation of water fountains, the introduction of personal cutlery, various community projects, charity and celebrational events. These successes highlight the parliament's commitment to implementing meaningful changes that will improve the college environment and foster community involvement. Central to these efforts is the parliament's mission to empower every young person to drive change through active participation in student voice and democratic processes. In this way, the New Bridge Parliament continues to build a vibrant and engaged college council, ensuring that every student has a chance to be heard and make a difference.
