Dance Drama Options

Students in Dance & Drama options have been preparing for their show & tell performance.

Students have chosen to sing or dance to their favourite song.

They are currently working on building their confidence and performing in front of an audience that consists of other students in the group.

Hopefully in the next few weeks, most of the students will have built the confidence to perform to unfamiliar people around the school site.

Our show & tell performance is planned to take place in the Summer Term.

Go New Bridge Barkers… Go!

This week the New Bridge Barkers (a combination of young people from New Bridge Pathways and New Bridge College) played their first official Esport British Champs match. This Spring Term, we have entered the Rocket League Student Champs Open 2024-25.

Round 1 (best out of 5) - New Bridge Barkers Vs Bromsgrove School

Our team was pumped before kick-off with a prep talk from Coaches Charlie and Brendan (with the Rocky theme playing in the background).

Match 1 – not the start we were hoping for, we were beaten 4 – 0. However, it was our first game!

A massive well done to New Bridge Barkers players, coaches and technical support.

An amazing display of resilience from the team. Even when we went two matches down, our young people worked strongly together, kept their chins up and kept going. Thank you to all involved… bring on Round 2!

Food Options

In our options food lessons this term the pupils have enjoyed making a wide range of dishes using the ‘rubbing in’ method, all have developed great technique as they have progressed from shortbread to scones to cheese straws and then pastry for jam tarts, this week we have used this skill to start our festive baking knocking up a batch of mince pies. The pupils have impressed me hugely not just with their skills but with the wonderful kindness and teamwork they have demonstrated.

The hospitality and catering group spent the first half term honing their skills, demonstrating their competence with knives and applying heat in various ways. The pupils have also been developing their palettes introducing herbs, spices and seasoning into their dishes and adapting recipes to suit their personal taste. Since half term our focus has shifted to basic food hygiene, the group have been learning about ‘safer food better business’ and have begun to understand the importance of the 4C’s.. firstly looking at effective hygiene and cleaning products and the last week turning the kitchen white as Mrs Newport showed through her very unhygienic demonstration just how easily cross-contamination can occur. The pupils have put this knowledge into practice in their practical lessons learning how to panne, making chicken goujons and scotch eggs, they have begun to work in a pleasingly professional manner.
