Pathways Blog - 23.1.26
In the blink of an eye, we are at the midpoint of the half term.
Spring is knocking on the door, with the sun setting later in the evening. However, there is still a chill in the air, and a cold snap being forecast in the upcoming week.
To beat the shivers, Pathway brains are generating lots of heat with the learning that is being done in classes. A sample of some of the topics and activities to follow below.
This week, we say goodbye, good luck and thank you to Miss Done, who is moving on to another career path. Miss Done arrived at the beginning of our Pathways journey in 2023 as a Teaching Assistant, and has been an integral part of our school community. Miss Done built up a strong rapport with pupils and staff, and her influence has had a positive outcome on our young learners. Both staff and pupils wish Miss Done well on her future endeavours.
I hope you all have a restful weekend

English Department Term Update
Over the term, our students have settled in confidently and shown real progress in their English work. They’ve been developing their speaking and listening skills through group discussions, paired tasks, and class presentations.
Students have also created their own PowerPoints and delivered talks on a range of engaging topics, including:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Boxers and the discipline behind the sport
- Pandora bracelet beads/charms and their meanings
- Is social media healthy or unhealthy?
Each topic sparked thoughtful conversation, and the effort from every student has been impressive. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and growing confidence have made this a really positive term.
As we move into our mock exams, it’s great to see such dedication. Keep up the positive work — it’s really paying off.

Maths Mock Workshops
In preparation for the upcoming mocks next week, students have been going over a variety of topics to refresh their memory. We’ve been taking a second look at how to count different amounts of currency, working out column subtractions, and even working with decimal points. Students are eager to prove themselves in their mocks and are excited for the upcoming challenge! We wish them all the best of luck.
