Pathways Blog - 21.11.25

I hope this blog finds you and your families safe and well after the high winds last weekend from Storm Claudia.

On Tuesday, we had our first Parents Evening of the Academic year, where parents and staff had the opportunity to discuss how Year 10 pupils had settled into the school, and also have early discussions about next steps for the Year 11s.  I thank you for your continued support of our learners, and encourage any families in attendance to complete the feedback survey to help us improve our offer. Link here: Parents Evening Feedback

Interviews were also held on Tuesday for class deliverers and I’m pleased to say that we have appointed 2 new members of staff who will add value and experience to our team and learners. Once final onboarding processes have been completed, we will share further details.

As we leave autumn and move into winter, where the nights are arriving earlier, the mornings are getting darker and there is a chill in the air, I would like to remind pupils and families to stay safe and take appropriate measures during these cold snaps. Please make sure pupils are wearing appropriate clothing/outdoor wear which falls in line with our school uniform requirements. In addition, please make sure that your child's clothing is clearly labelled with their name to help identify any misplaced items. If you have any questions about uniform, please reach out to your child's form tutor.

With the cold weather, the inevitable seasonal illnesses become more commonplace. Should you feel you child is not well enough to attend school, please remember to ring the pupil absence line on the day and leave a message explaining the reason for absence: 0161 383 4443 (option 2)

It is also a good time to check in on those who might struggle during the colder months ahead.  Playing our part in the community, the school is running a canned food drive to support people over the festive period. We would welcome any donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries eg dried pasta, tinned fruit & veg, cooking sauces, shower gel etc. If you are able to donate items for our appeal, please send them in with your child – your generosity is appreciated.

As always, enjoy your weekend, stay safe.

Activ8

This week Mr Hollinworth’s Activ8 group have continued working on developing their understanding of the human body. They have focused on bones, different bone types and the functions of the skeleton. This knowledge has been reinforced through students completing different exercises during their gym program and recognising the movement type and bones linked to the relevant exercise.

Alongside this, students have continued to apply their learning around different training methods. This included completing strength, speed, agility, and power tests. All students put 100% effort into the activities and set down some very high baseline scores. A great week for all in Activ8 1.

CL5

Our class has been getting into the holiday spirit by preparing for the Christmas markets!

We’ve been making all sorts of fun slimes, from glittery to glow-in-the-dark and even trying Christmas scented versions.

They have been practicing face painting, turning themselves into Santa, reindeers and snowflakes and creating handmade Christmas decorations.

We’re also planning a fun trip to the cinema to watch a movie together.

With all this creativity and teamwork, we’re excited to showcase our work at the market and spread some festive cheer to our community!
