Pathways Blog - 14.11.25
Our second week back Pathways, and we’ve not stopped moving forward!
Let’s start with Remembrance Day.
In 1918, at 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, after over four years of warfare, guns in Europe fell silent and the Armistice began, signalling the end of The First World War.
On Wednesday, pupils and staff paused to remember the people around the world who have served and died in war and conflict. We also remember those who continue to serve protecting our British values.
I used this time to remember my Great Grandfather, George Brown Southerington, who was killed in action at Passchendaele Ridge whilst serving with the Sherwood Foresters.

Lest we forget.
Friday saw the school don their “civvies” for Children in Need Day.
We raised £64.50, which will go towards helping local and national projects support young people.
Thank you for your generosity.
The week has also included reporting to the Multi Academy Trust Directors about our safeguarding, behaviour, and attendance data, and I’m pleased to say that the statistics showed an increase in both attendance and positive behaviour recording. Safeguarding was classed as effective.
Whilst the staff and pupils have worked hard to achieve this, it can only be accomplished with families’ continued support. Thank you for your input, care, and understanding.
We are busy planning the Christmas activities, transitions, residentials, off-site visits, and, the highlight of the year, the Year 11 leavers’ celebration and Prom. Exciting times ahead!
Enjoy your weekend, stay safe.
Mr Southerington.
CL2
This week in CL2 we have been using our tuff spot to sensory learn to aid us with our counting. We all got a little messy, but it was great fun.
We have been working on our initial sounds and spelling in English. The theme this term is Magic and Mischief, so we are continuing to look at Harry Potter following on from our Harry Potter day we had last term.
We are continuing to develop or living skills with making a hot drink and toast in our lessons.

CL3
This week, CL3 Community Living Pathway have been to join the library.
Everyone was asked to look at books that were associated with our English topic of Magic and Mischief.
Their behaviour was amazing. Students were very polite and respectful towards other library users.
Students independently signed out the books they had chosen.
Everyone was so excited to get their library cards.
Lukas was extremely pleased to get his library card and he can’t wait to choose his books next week.

CL5
This term CL5 have been working really hard in their English lessons and have been exploring the magical world of Harry Potter.
They have created imaginative postcards, written descriptive pieces about Harry, Hogwarts and the enchanting settings in the book and developed their understanding of characters through focused paragraph writing. Along the way, they’ve strengthened their reading skills by diving into a range of magical texts. They even visited the library on a quest to discover more stories filled with magic and wonder.
Amazing work CL5!
