Pathways Blog - 13.2.26

This half term, and this half of the academic year, has flown by, and our pupils are ready for a deserved week of rest and recouperation before we start back for Spring 2!

Considering how short this term has been so far, our class and curriculum teams have brought us a bumper blog, packed with content.  More of that to follow.

Pupil progress was recognised on Friday where some of our young learners came to The Hive for ‘Pastoral Pastries’ – this was to acknowledge the hard work in a variety of areas including increased engagement, improvement in reading, developing posture management and continuous demonstration of our 3Bs - Well done to Zainab, Kian, Robert, Logan, Khadeja, Adam, & Kenzie - we hope you enjoyed your Croissants & Fruit Scones.

The half term break sees the start of both Ramadan (17th February) and Lent (18th February) where they lead into Eid and Easter respectively. We send best wishes to people celebrating these occasions

Lastly, please remember that Pathways will re-open on Tuesday 24th February

Enjoy your weekend, enjoy your half term break - Stay Safe

CL1

This term in CL1, we have been learning about different cultures and traditions, with a special focus on our local community. The class enjoyed exploring local folk stories, including the tale of the two giants from Saddleworth, and discussing how stories shape our understanding of place. We also learned about local music and events, such as Oldham’s well‑known brass band contests, and the important role they play in bringing people together. In addition, the pupils investigated how Oldham has changed over time, comparing the town’s past appearance with how it looks today.

The children have worked incredibly hard, shown great curiosity, and demonstrated fantastic teamwork throughout the term. They deserve a well‑earned break, and we hope they enjoy their time off!

CL5

As we wrap up another busy and rewarding term, it’s been fantastic to reflect on just how much our students have achieved. They’ve settled in with confidence, supported one another, and shown real teamwork in everything they’ve taken on.

Our cultural visits around Oldham have been a real highlight, with students embracing each experience with curiosity and enthusiasm. Another memorable moment this term was their handson cooking session, where they rolled up their sleeves to make traditional rag puddings. The pride on their faces as they created (and tasted!) their own dishes was wonderful to see.

We’d also like to give a special mention to Padraig for his outstanding commitment to the School Council. His dedication, reliability, and thoughtful contributions have made a real difference, and we’re incredibly proud of him.

Thank you to all our students for their hard work and positivity throughout the term. Wishing everyone a restful and well deserved break before we return for more learning and new adventures.

Digi 2

Digi 2 has had a fantastic half term! Their WJEC portfolios were completed ahead of schedule, so we had time for a fabulous school trip! We headed out to IKEA for our money management lessons and tried to build a desk set-up within a certain budget. We came home with a new-found understanding of just how expensive chairs are and four new stuffed shark friends!

Digi 1

Digi 1 have had a very positive half term with a focus on their spending and budgeting. They have had a chance to go into Oldham town centre and shop around for a variety of goodies to fit their budget. Digi1 have worked very well with each other and continue to build positive relationships as a team, coming together as a team to support each other incredibly well.

Opan Youth Festival – A Fantastic Success!

What an incredible day and evening at the Opan Youth Festival on 4th February. It’s safe to say it was a huge success from start to finish.

From the moment the festival began there was a real buzz in the air. Lumenus students arrived full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to perform.

Our talented students show confidence, teamwork, and creativity, taking to the stage with pride. It was wonderful to see them support one another, cheer each other on and truly shine.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make day possible, organisers, staff, families and supporters. Most importantly, well done to the Lumenus students. Your energy, talent and positive spirit made the whole festival truly special. We are incredibly proud of you all.
