Pathways Blog - 12.12.25

In wintertime, nature starts to slow down to get ready for hibernation. However, New Bridge Pathways continues to do the opposite! We’ve increased the pace to provide fantastic experiences and opportunities for our learners!

This week has been filled with events that have involved collaboration, cohesion and community – from visits to Old Trafford Cricket Ground to our annual Christmas Dinner, the teamwork and togetherness that the site has shown has been marvellous.

On Wednesday, pupils and staff dressed in their festive attire in styles that included Snowmen, Father Christmas, The Grinch, Stranger Things, Elf, Oldham Athletic and even a Capybara. This range of fashion gave the site that extra sparkle!

At dinner, pupils and staff decorated their tables and sat down together as they tucked in to their Christmas dinner... well, I say “dinner”, it was more like a feast! Pulling crackers, wearing silly hats and telling terrible jokes were all part of the fun, as the air was filled with chatter, music and laughter.

A massive thank you to Roz and her catering team for their amazing culinary skills, which brought even more festive cheer to everyone on the site. Next Christmas Dinner will have a lot to live up to!!

Friday brought the school together to celebrate the topic “Giving and Gratitude” as part of our Super Learning Day. A plethora of activities were on offer, linked to the “Be Respectful” element of our Three B’s. More details of this day follow below.

Our Canned food drive has now finished, and I’m extremely grateful to all who have been able to donate. We have received an amazing number of items and these will go towards helping support members of our local community. Thank you for your generosity!

You might have heard in the news about the rise of flu cases in the country, and the effect this is having on NHS services. Whilst we have been fortunate enough not to be affected by this wave of illness, please look after yourself and each other. If you feel your child is unwell enough to come to school, please ring our Absence Line – 0161 383 4443, option 2.

Enjoy your weekend, stay safe.

Mr Wilsons round up of Activ8’s fantastic week of Festive Fun and Sporting Success!

This week has been nothing short of amazing for Activ8!

On Wednesday, the group celebrated Christmas in style with a festive dinner. Everyone enjoyed themselves, pulling crackers, having a laugh and wearing Christmas hats to get into the holiday spirit. It was a wonderful way to come together and celebrate the season.

Meanwhile, at MAHDLO, the students worked incredibly hard. They completed a practical boxing session as part of their preparation for BTEC coursework, showing great focus and determination. Then, on Thursday, they faced a challenging fitness session. Every single student gave their best effort, pushed through the difficulty, and finished with a real sense of achievement. Both myself and Miss Done were extremely proud of their resilience and commitment.

To round off the week, on Friday, 10 students headed to Friday Football and what a performance! The team played brilliantly, showing outstanding teamwork and encouragement. Their hard work paid off as they won the league for the second time! This incredible achievement reflects their dedication and the way they support each other.

Well done, Activ8! You’ve made yourselves and New Bridge proud. What a fantastic week of celebration, effort, and success!

Christmas Jumper Day 2025

Pathways Christmas Jumper Day 2025

CL2 Mrs Palmer

On Tuesday, some of Community Living 2 class went out into the community to visit Oldham Parish Church.

We visited the Christmas Tree Festival. The trees have been decorated by local schools and various local charities in a theme of their own choosing.

The students took their time in writing a prayer or a wish and then added it to the prayer tree.

After a lovely visit to the church, we popped into Costa Coffee on our way back to school for a drink. Students continued their good work in selecting what they wanted, and socialising together.

Super Learning Day

CL3

CL3 have had a lovely day today.

We have made boxes for staff. They had chocolates and a special thank you letter inside.

Students from all classes were asked to write a letter of gratitude and why they were thankful to staff.

After break CL3 and CL5 joined together to have a celebration gathering. Pupils played games, practicing communication and social interaction skills.

CL4

In Community Living 4, for Super Learning Day, we have been getting creative in developing our communication and social interaction skills and learning about gratitude.

Throughout the day we have been understanding what kindness and empathy is.

We made cards to staff who support us in school and make us feel safe and valued.

Lumenus

Lumenus students have taken this super learning day as an opportunity to say thank you to all the staff that help them through out the week.

Not all staff are mentioned but we would like to thank each and every staff member in the building and say a massive thank you for all the hard work!

Lumenus students created a Zen area for staff and students today to show their appreciation and gratitude.

They offered head, hand and shoulder massages for staff and students to have a 20-minute relaxation session.

Table Cricket Competition

A team of eight students recently visited Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground with Mr Fish and Miss Javed to take part in an exciting table cricket competition.

They had an amazing time, showcasing their skills and determination to secure an impressive 3rd place overall!

The students should be extremely proud of their fantastic attitude, exemplary behaviour, and the way they interacted with fellow competitors throughout the day.

Adding to the fun, they met Lancashire Cricket Club’s mascot, Lanky the Giraffe, and Lancashire Thunder player Fi Morris, who presented them with their well-deserved medals. What a memorable experience for everyone involved!
