Maths
The arrival of half term gives the staff and students a chance to reflect on what has been a very busy period.
During this period, all students have been assessed and baselined, then allocated to work groups at an appropriate level. Both groups have worked on similar subjects, with work tailored for their academic levels. We have looked at Place Value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Work has been done around metric measurements and conversions and students have been using the tools of estimation and rounding, to have an understanding of where a problem may be heading.
What has been lovely to witness is the way our students have embraced the challenges of each topic and have done this by working independently, working with their peers, or demonstrating methods to their groups. As a result, they have produced some amazing pieces of work.
Homework is not compulsory but when students ask for extra work we always aim to please and we would like to give special mention to our Maths Champs for going above and beyond this half term. Christine, Khadija, and Izzy. Well done, you are all fabulous.
After half-term, the pace will further pick up and we will be looking at Fractions and Percentages. We will continue to remind students, that for these areas in particular, good times tables knowledge is required.
We hope you and your families have a wonderful half term.
