Mrs Tootill's Blog - 18.10.24

This week I have been so lucky to see some amazing work in class as part of our leaning walks.

On Thursday, I watched year 7 learning about numbers bonds and money – which included some work on iPads, plus some practical maths. In AB the staff showed me some beautiful pumpkins that had been made in clay and baked in the kiln.

In our interactive base – I‘ve seen so much practical work – from autumn leaves to more pumpkins (I think for next year we may have to grow some for the students to work with).

And finally I popped into see a wonderful cooking lesson where one of our communication groups were making (and tasting) cheese and onion tarts . At this point I probably do need to mention most of these tasty treats didn’t make it home.

Next week we have a coffee morning for some of our new families and carers who joined us in September. I’m hoping to pop in at some point and welcome our new families into the New Bridge family.

I want to share in some positive feedback we have received recently from some of our existing families...

“I want to compliment my son’s class; it was so calm and a breath of fresh air to see him so happy, he really struggled at his primary school, and I haven't seen him this happy in a very long time. They have got his learning vs sensory input just right for him and I’m sure he will continue to flourish in their care!"

“Thank you, New Bridge. My son is so happy and cared for. As for your staff team Alison, they really do make sure that he is not only educated but he’s happy and safe. That is THE most important thing for me – as a mum."

And most recently, from a visiting professional...

“Good morning -I am most overwhelmed with your super efficiency. I walked out of your school yesterday feeling very honoured I must say…what a family you are. I’m so happy to be working with you. Thank you for your commitment."

Really lovely words.

Finally, following on from last week’s ‘s blog I want to share a wonderful picture of some of our year 9 students who were keen to show me some of their amazing work about Mental Health Awareness.

One more week to go until we break up (and the nights get darker...)

Take care, stay safe
