Mrs T's Blog (16.1.26)
Week 2 of the Spring term and thank goodness the snow has melted.
This week has been incredibly busy, and I have been part of the team that looks at standards in curriculum across our schools.
On Tuesday, I was at the College as we listened to colleagues talk about the progress the students are making in English, Maths, ICT, Performing Arts and Sport. Some of the highlights included how we join up our curriculum from Roman Road to the Pathways and beyond. Exciting stuff.
Today, was the board that scrutinised the Roman Road site and it was brilliant to hear progress in lots of subject areas.
Ms Mullin spoke about the students work and was able to show us some beautiful pieces based on the artist David Hockney.
Mr Garry spoke about developments in ICT – namely 3 D printing – which is an incredibly popular topic for our students (and staff).
Mr Jenkins shared some successes on PE – including Sports Mark Gold and the results from the Panathlon. More on that below...*
Mr Rawston spoke to us about the use of Gatsby Benchmarks and how we will be developing this over the next year.
Mrs Lenge – our newly appointed Head of the Interactive Base was able to share the successes in the food department and spoke about some of the comments made by parents – following students trying new foods and tasks in the kitchen.
It was a really positive morning and really demonstrated to us that the school strives to ensure that our curriculum is centred around our students’ needs and destinations. Thank you to all staff involved.

Focusing on the panathlon...

Also this week, we welcomed Mr Hanbury into our school – to speak to our School Council regarding their thoughts around school. I’ll be sharing this with my blog readers in up and coming communication.
That’s it for me this week.
Stay safe
