Learning Centre Blog (27.2.26)

I have to start this week’s blog with exciting news, as we once again prepare for the arrival on Monday of our ‘Living Eggs’. You may recall last year we live streamed every step of the way including the successful hatching of 12 healthy chicks, very, very cute!

We’ll be sharing the live link next week, so please watch this space.

Students have settled quickly back into routine at the Learning Centre after returning from their half term break. They have jumped straight back into learning.

Miss Carter's IB class have been learning all about the BFG through a sensory story, they have embraced their creative side making dream catchers, dream jars, the BFG and hisa trumpet!

Please check out their blog below for some fabulous pictures.

This week Miss Curran's class have also shared their news and some photos of what they’ve been up to. I was so proud of their hard work and dedication in planning, setting up and running the Learning Centre Valentines restaurant which raised a total of £180, some of this was donated to IB3 who are raising money for a sensory bubble tube. The class is also preparing their classroom for the arrival of the eggs!

Well done to everyone!

Next week, the Learning Centre will be joining in on celebrating World Book Day, I have my costume ready… watch this space!

I’d like to remind families that on Monday we are holding a parents and carers group meeting from 2 till 3 pm. This provides an opportunity for families and carers to come together to chat within a safe, supportive environment. Refreshments will be provided by our amazing students.

Have a great weekend

Miss Allison

CL1 ECN

CL1 ECN have been feeling the love.

For the past term we have been busy cherubs, creating decorations, designing menus and invitations.

On Wednesday 11th February 2026 we held our very own Valentine’s restaurant. We worked extremely hard preparing food and serving our guests.

Everyone who attended had a fabulous time and were impressed by the quality of service they received.

We raised over £180.00. Some of the money was donated to IB3 to help buy a sensory bubble tube.

Everyone did a fantastic job. A massive well done.

CL1 ECN Valentines

CL1 ECN have settled back amazingly to college life. We have started a new topic at maths. We are learning about time and have been practicing using analogue and digital clocks.

Outdoor Education was enjoyed by all. We fed the pigeons and ducks and had a walk around Stamford park.

On Thursday as a thank you for working so hard at the Valentines restaurant, we had a class buffet. We had lots of delicious treats.

On Monday 2nd March we welcome the chickens back to the Learning centre. They will be residing in room 89.

We have been busy getting the room chick ready. Everyone cannot wait for their arrival.

A great first week back guys.

IBGCR

This term IBGCR have been learning all about The BFG.

We have been exploring different sensory items within our sensory story including visual and auditory stimuli.

We have made lots of beautiful artwork including, dream catchers, dream jars, the BFG himself and the trumpet he uses to blow good dreams into people’s windows.

All the students have been so engaged with the story, they have been learning the signs of the letters, sequencing the order of the story, and trying hard to explore items which is out of their comfort zone.

Well done, everyone!
