Learning Centre Blog (18.10.24)

Hi all,

Another busy week here at the Learning Centre with lots going on. It's hard to believe there’s only one more week until half term!

One of the absolute joys of my role is having the opportunity to spend time with students on the ground. At present my lunchtimes are spent either, dancing, singing, drawing or just chatting to students on their lunchtime activities.

I’m trying to keep track of their music likes however was delighted to spend lunchtime today singing and dancing to Abba & Mamma Mia, definitely unleashed my inner performer, those of you who know me will know I don’t need asking twice!

Students are getting excited for Halloween; we already have decorations and pumpkins from our very own gardens ready to carve. Thanks also to the Nurture group for the invite to their Halloween party, I’ll get my outfit ready!

It’s a busy week next week.

Monday afternoon sees the first meeting of our parents and Carers group.

Letters have gone out to all families with the details, hopefully this provides a safe forum for families to meet and discuss any issues or concerns they have and share advice on how these may have been overcome.

If you would like any further information, please get in touch with John Barker or Hannah on reception.

We look forward to welcoming as many of our parents and carers as possible.

Tuesday afternoon sees the final meeting of our current student council before they hand over to this year’s new representatives.

The election process is already underway, and I managed to get a sneaky listen to one of the candidates recording their speech. Very excited!

This week has seen the start of our learning walks which provide an opportunity to visit classes and see the amazing work of the staff teams and what our students are learning.

I was delighted to see all students fully engaged in their learning and clearly enjoying their lessons.

I’m also heartened by the warmth of the relationships observed within classes and how staff are developing an in depth understanding of individual student needs. Here’s to many more visits next week, I’m also hoping to get some quotes from students which I can share.

Have a great weekend
