Learning Centre Blog (17.1.25)
I’m delighted to be able to share a couple of stories this week about our amazing students.
Firstly to Amy, one of our year 13 students, who told me that she’d been interviewed by another head for the Supporters club Fanzine, about her supporting and attending Salford City Football Club.
Imagine my surprise to hear that Toni Tomason, the Head at Spring Brook Lower school, is also a huge fan.
Toni interviewed Amy at home and dropped into the Learning Centre this week to hand over the magazine to Amy. I was blown away by Amy’s responses and just had to share within my blog.
I asked Amy how she felt, and she replied. “I really enjoyed being interviewed, I love going to matches and have been welcomed into the club. I’ll be there cheering the team this weekend.”
Thanks to Mrs Tomason for visiting Amy, she was so pleased.
Well done, Amy, one day I’m sure you’ll be able to explain the offside rule to me!! Really proud of you.
And now onto two more students who are leading the way on driving forward recycling at the Learning Centre.
Here’s a report from Mrs Curran
"The Student Council met to consider whether they wanted to set up an Eco Team. The vote was a resounding 'yes' and the Council decided to ask for students to nominate themselves for a place on the Eco Team. Candidates must be passionate about caring for the environment and be able to work well within a team and influence others with good ideas. Bailey and Antonia created a video bulletin to make everyone aware and as of today the election is open. By Friday 24th January we will have an Eco Team so please, watch this space during this exciting time! Good luck to all the students who are considering putting themselves forwards for a place on the Eco Team."

I’m so very proud of all these students who are demonstrating that SEN are no barrier to achieving, inspiring and making a real different.
Well done, all!!
