Halloween Horror!

We’ve finally made it to half term and I have to be honest, it's been a ‘fright’ filled day! Our students have embraced Halloween, and I don’t think my heart can take another scare! Here are just a couple of examples.

Learning Centre (25.10.24)

As you can see, I did try and get into the spirit!

Also loving the display in Miss Read's class...

The Learning Centre is busy getting ready for remembrance and I’m very excited at the plans for the Learning Centre Display.

This will involve contributions from all groups and we have our very own cenotaph! I look forward to sharing the pictures.

I’d like to say a big well done to the staff and students from Miss Thornhill's class who have been really engaged since their return. They are currently preparing to travel as part of their ‘Around the world’ project’.

Can I join you guys?

Also a shout out goes to Mrs Brierley’s class who have also shared the news from their class, in English, PE, Art, Outdoor Education & RSHE. Well done to you all!

EBaseLTL

"The students in EBaseLTL have had a really good start to the academic year. They have all come back after the Summer raring to go and have got straight back into their learning, which is fantastic.

In Maths the students have been playing a tailor-made game of Monopoly to promote their money recognition skills. The students were all involved in making this and each place around the board was chosen by the young people. We have Mahdlo, Alexander Park, Costa Coffee, Grandmas House, Walton on the Naze and lots of other favourite places. The students really enjoy playing this game and handing over their money to buy their houses to put on their favourite places.

We have also been making suitcases for our All Around the World theme in Enrichment. Once these are complete, we will look at what we do at the airport, including passport control, (we’ve made passports too), watch a flight simulator whilst we travel on a plane and once landed explore different countries and their cultures.

It’s been a great week for cake!

On Wednesday, we accessed the McMillan Coffee morning where we bought lots of cake and sat alongside our peers from the main body of the Learning Centre. On Thursday, we bought more cake as the trolley came around to our classroom to continue collecting for McMillan.

On Thursday and Friday, we did lots of activities to celebrate Halloween. Some of us had our faces painted so we looked scary and then we carved our Pumpkins. We then decorated some Halloween biscuits which looked great.

Anyway, that’s enough about us. Hope everybody has a lovely half term, and we’ll see you all soon."

EBase - 25.10.24

Finally, I promised to share some student feedback from my Learning Walks, here are just a couple...

“I can understand because the teacher helps me, I’ve always struggled before.”

“I love the Nurture group lessons.”

“When can I play football!”

Have a great half term all, whatever you may be doing.

Take care
