Employability Blog - 26.9.24
The Employability group have returned this year with all the enthusiasm they had when they finished in July. Added to this is the excitement and anticipation the new students to our group are displaying. Two of these new students have previously attended some work placements in preparation for coming into our group, and for their future aspirations.
One of our new students is continuing to attend a work placement in the onsite nursery, where she is treated like a member of staff and has attended relevant training days with the other members of staff from the nursery. Since starting at the nursery last year, we have seen her flourish and realise the sort of employment she wants to have in the future.
One of our students from previous years has now secured a voluntary placement in a local nursery for two days a week. She also attends the onsite nursery one day a week. She now knows the type of employment that she would like to do in future. She intends asking the local nursery if she can do an apprenticeship with them.
Two of our students work on the college grounds each week, along with two from another group. All are eager to continue with this and enjoy being outdoors whatever the weather.
One of our students, now works with students in another group. She has always said she wants to work as a teaching assistant and has grasped this opportunity with both hands. She also collects their dinners daily along with others from our group. They never need any reminders and are always happy to do this job.
All in all, it has been a very positive start to the year and we anticipate that it will continue in this positive manner all year.
