A Visit from Mr. Lyons: A meaningful Visit to New Bridge Parliament
We were delighted to welcome another visit from our Chief Executive Head Teacher, Mr Gavin Lyons, to our New Bridge Parliament student representative Monday lunch meet-ups. Mr Lyons attended the session as part of his ongoing commitment to strengthening student voice and ensuring that learners remain at the heart of decision-making across the college.
By attending in person, he was keen to hear directly from students about what matters most to them, to understand their experiences, and to ensure that leadership remains closely connected to the views and aspirations of the student body. These sessions give student representatives the opportunity to share updates, discuss priorities, and reflect on their goals and aspirations.
During this visit, Mr Lyons was particularly interested in listening to our passionate students and understanding why they are proud to represent both New Bridge College and the Future Finders Employability College. A key focus of the discussion was our “You Said – We Did” Autumn Term actions.
Mr Lyons took time to review the progress being made and showed genuine interest in how student feedback is being actively turned into action across the college, including improvements to facilities, wellbeing support, enrichment opportunities, and inclusive spaces.
The meeting also captured the unique personalities within our Parliament. Andrew brought energy to the conversation by referencing his favourite basketball player, LeBron James, who often features in his discussions, while Kurt proudly shared his latest darts scores, demonstrating confidence and enthusiasm among the group.
Overall, the visit was both positive and motivating. It reinforced how highly student voice is valued at New Bridge and highlighted the strong partnership between students and senior leadership.
We look forward to continuing this important work together and building on the progress already achieved, ensuring every student feels heard, supported, and inspired about the future.

Girls Group Update
The girls have completed the bag, which was designed by Olivia, the ‘Neurodiverse’ symbol that represents autism was a favourite choice from all the group.
We have made the bag from cardboard, shaped it and glued it together. The girls have covered the bag using a black T shirt.
Over several weeks, the group decorated the autism jigsaw pieces using glitter and a hot glue gun.
And ta da!... another amazing bag to add to the collection.

The girls have shared the completed bag with Dr Shirley Woods Gallagher.
