Christmas Blog 2024
We are finally at Christmas.
This term has been absolutely massive, and we’ve crammed so much in over these past 15 weeks.
On Monday we began with the collection of the duvets that have been donated to us, being picked up by Sally Mayer and the Oldham School Fundraising team.
All in all, we collected over 40 duvets, not to mention hats, scarves and gloves – which came from a variety of places, including the JD Sports commercial team based in Bury, plus our staff team and the New Bridge Executive team.
In addition, we had contributions from friends and family as well as a local charity Breaking the Waves foundation. Thank you to everyone – it is so important for us to give back to people who need it.
Christmas Blog 2024
Wednesday was Christmas dinner and jumper day. Kerry and the team did an absolutely amazing job – serving over 500 meals to the school. The pictures of the day really summed up what it was about – our New Bridge family coming together at Christmas time.
Thursday was a visit from the big man himself and Mrs Claus.
This is the first time I think the ENTIRE school met Santa. It was a brilliant morning and each student received a gift and a picture.
I will share with our blog readers, someone did point out to me that Santa actually joined us at Disney.
At which point, I did say Father Christmas had taken some time out of his busy schedule to join us in June!
And Mrs Claus also got a mention and managed to take some time to join us – which was lovely.
Finally, today, our last day of term is always fun but hectic.
The day kicked off with the staff team coming together.
We also said some goodbyes as staff move onto pastures new.
We will wish Miss Bulmer, Mrs Joy, Mrs Fletcher, Ms Begum, Ms Husain, Mrs Evans the best of luck and a special mention needs to go to Mr Jackson – our wonderful Head of our Interactive base who is leaving us.
Nick (and Joanne Fletcher) have been with us for 12 years. Nick joined us as an English teacher and then had change of direction to work and lead our amazing base. Nick, we will miss you – personally and professionally. Good luck to all colleagues and please don’t be strangers – the door is always open.
So that’s it.
On behalf of myself and our New Bridge family can I wish all our wonderful students (who make every day magical), families, carers, key partners and governing body a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for all your help, support and care over the past year.
To my amazing resilient staff team – enjoy the break, do something nice and rest. You have been brilliant, and I cannot thank you enough for the work you do every day.
Merry Christmas!
We will see you all in 2025!
Stay Safe
