FAQ's (Learning Centre)
What is the Annual Review Process?
Your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) will continue to be reviewed each year through the Annual Review process. The meetings are chaired by a member of our Education, Health and Care Plan Team who ensures effective coordination of services and fully supports your child in discussing the pupil view document.
When do we receive reports?
We will provide written reports over the course of the year. They will focus on progress towards your child’s EHCP outcomes. There are also several formal opportunities during the year for you to meet with your child’s Teachers. In the Autumn term you will be able to meet their Form Tutor to discuss their progress and how they have settled in at college. In the Spring term you will be able to meet with subject Teachers to discuss progress in specific curriculum areas. In the Summer term you will receive a full written report on your child’s achievements and future targets. You will have the chance to discuss any issues arising fromthis report if you wish to do so.

We are not insured against the loss or damage of property therefore New Bridge Learning Centre cannot accept any liability for any loss or damage to personal items. Jewellery should not be worn to College, the exceptions being plain stud earrings and a medic alert bracelet.

What happens with transition?
Transition days take place each year and New Bridge Learning Centre works collaboratively with feeder Colleges and parents/carers to ensure that your child has a positive experience and introduction to the Learning Centre so that they feel safe, meet their new tutor groups and prepare them for their next stage in post 16 education.
Is there a Parents Group?
The Parents group was set up so parents could have a group meeting every half term where they could come and chat in a safe and supportive environment. As this evolved it became clear that there were a few common worries, questions and concerns shared by families. As a result, to give families more information and to answer their questions we decided to invite a few professionals to come in and talk to the group about pertinent issues. These have run alongside parent/carer group meetings. The meetings take place on Monday afternoon and are attended by our bilingual Family Liaison Officer, Shamin Akhtar, who supports families with translation.

What happens in an emergency closure?
We endeavour to always keep the Learning Centre open during the College term. However, there are very rare occasions when we may have to close. If such a decision is made by the Chief Executive Officer, the following action is taken to communicate with parents: • A message will be sent to parents via Arbor. • A message is placed on the website www.newbridgegroup.net to advise parents of the situation. The website is then updated as and when more information about the situation is available. • The phone message is updated with pertinent information about the situation. • Information is shared via the College’s Facebook and Twitter feed @newbridgegroup. • The ‘College closure’ page on the Oldham Council website is updated bythe local authority to show our status as closed, and the information is kept updated www.oldham.gov.uk/Collegeclos
