Behaviour
(College)
New Bridge College does not tolerate any form of bullying; it is totally unacceptable. We want all our young people to feel safe and happy.
In the event of such incidents, several sanctions can be used which range from having college privileges withdrawn to your young person being given time out to reflect, receiving lunchtime detention or, as a final sanction, an exclusion. Sanctions are used as a last resort.
At New Bridge College we encourage positive behavioral management, we support students to gain awareness and understanding of their feelings and develop their ability to self-regulate, make the right choice and facilitating a restorative approach when there has been a breakdown in peer relationships.

Behaviour of our parents/carers
New Bridge College aims to make sure that it is a safe place for our children, staff and members of the community. If you have any queries regarding your young persona please speak to your young person’s Form Tutor in the first instance. After that, the process to follow is to contact the Curriculum Lead. Senior Leaders will only become involved after this process has been followed. If you have any queries about who to contact, please contact the office.
We do not tolerate abusive language and behaviour towards our staff; any parents using persistent abusive behaviour will be asked to leave the premises and the incident will be reported to the police.
Team Teach
A team of staff at New Bridge College are trained in Team Teach. This positive behaviour training programme provides staff with the confidence and strategies they need to de-escalate challenging situations and reduce the need for physical intervention. Team Teach training equips staff with the knowledge and skills to manage distressed behaviours and conflicts safely and respectfully. Restrictive Physical Intervention (RPI) is always used as a last resort when all other appropriate strategies and interventions have been used.
