Communication

New Bridge promotes and encourages “Total Communication” across curricular and non-curricular activities.  The school provides an environment where communication is developed in order for each of our young people to make effective choices and gain independence.

Communication starts at a low level which encourages vocalisations, eye contact and gestures. Objects of reference, pictures, symbols and signs are used to support communication, understanding and independence. Both low tech and high tech communication aids, including iPads, are used by pupils where appropriate.
